Abstract

Community collaboration has a link with teachers’ job performance. Hence this study investigated how community collaboration contributes to teachers’ job performance in public secondary schools in Delta State. Two research questions, and hypotheses guided the study. A correlational research design was used for the study, with a population of 489 principals in public secondary schools in Delta State. A sample size of 98 respondents was derived using multi stage sampling technique. A self-structured questionnaire titled community collaboration questionnaire (CCQ) and teachers’ job performance Questionnaire (TJPQ) was used for the study. The reliability index of the instrument was 0.89 using the Cronbach Alpha method. Simple regression was used to answer the research questions, while t-test was used to test the hypotheses at the 0.05 level of significance. Findings showed, that effective communication through community collaboration contributes highly to teachers’ job performance and there was a significant contribution between effective communication through community collaboration and teachers’ job performance in secondary schools in Delta State. The study concluded that community collaboration contributes to teachers’ job performance hence there should be room for community to be fully involved in the activities of the schools in Delta State. The study recommended, among others, that the principals should give room for community collaboration so that the community members can increase their participation in school management.
