The vital role of children in shaping the future of a nation has prompted increasing attention from both governmental and non-governmental agencies toward their early development. This paper explores the contribution of children’s literature to early childhood education in North Central Nigeria. It discusses government efforts through policy implementation and evaluates the extent to which literature enhances the cognitive, emotional, and moral growth of young learners. Drawing from a library-based methodology and anchored on a sociological theoretical framework, the paper highlights how children’s literature nurtures critical thinking, empathy, and social values. The paper concludes with recommendations aimed at improving the inclusion of children’s literature in early childhood education policies and practices, particularly within the North Central region of Nigeria
