SEMANTICS STUDY OF ALQASEEDAH MUHAMMADIYYAH OF IMAM BUSAIRY

Abstract

Language is a societal phenomenon. It develops side by side with human development at different levels of the society. Moreover, the meanings of its vocabularies are susceptible of development and change continually due to the changes and developments taking place in the society, and it happens in a way that a word adopts several meanings beside of its literary one in order to fulfill the needs of users. This paper tracks some Arabic words, used by Imam Busairi in one of his prominent poems; Alqasedatul Muhammadiyya, in which he composes in compliment of Prophet Muhammad peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, to detect its original meaning in Arabic dictionary, and elucidate the development happening to them as used by the poet. The paper concentrates on semantic development of the words, whether they develop or restrict or divert of their original meanings
