DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION AND PEDAGOGICAL INNOVATION IN CREATIVE ARTS EDUCATION

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technologies has significantly reshaped educational practices across disciplines, including creative arts education. This paper examines the intersection of digital transformation and pedagogical innovation within creative arts education, focusing on how emerging technologies are redefining teaching, learning, and artistic production. Drawing on contemporary scholarship and practice, the paper explores digital tools such as virtual studios, multimedia platforms, artificial intelligence, and social media as catalysts for creative engagement and collaborative learning. The paper also investigates the implications of these technologies for curriculum design, assessment, and teacher competence. While digital transformation offers vast opportunities for accessibility, creativity and global connectivity, it also presents challenges such as digital inequality, authenticity concerns, and inadequate infrastructure, particularly in developing countries like Nigeria. The paper concludes by advocating for a balanced integration of digital tools with traditional artistic practices and recommends capacity building, policy support, and curriculum reforms to enhance pedagogical innovation in creative arts education in the digital age.
