THE EXPLICIT METAPHOR IN SELECTED POEMS OF ISMAIL ALI ZAIN AL-ABIDIN: A RHETORICAL AND ANALYTICAL STUDY ﷴ إﻋﺪاد:ﺣﺒﯿﺒﺔ ﻧﯿﺎﯾﺎ

Abstract

This study examines the use of the explicit metaphor (al-Isti'ārah al-Taṣrīḥiyyah) in selected poems of Ismail Ali Zain al-Abidin through a rhetorical and analytical approach. The research aims to identify and analyze explicit metaphors employed by the poet in order to reveal their rhetorical significance, artistic beauty, and contribution to the richness of poetic expression. The paper begins with a brief biography of the poet, followed by a discussion of the concept of metaphor in Arabic rhetoric and a definition of the explicit metaphor. It then analyzes selected poetic verses containing explicit metaphors, explaining their rhetorical functions and aesthetic effects. The findings demonstrate that the poet skillfully employs explicit metaphors to deepen meaning, strengthen imagery, and enhance the emotional and artistic impact of his poetry. The study concludes that explicit metaphor is a dominant rhetorical feature in the selected poems and reflects the poet's remarkable command of Arabic literary expression.
